Had a wild hair to try some bird feeder hangers. Tried a couple of stock sizes and finally settled on the 7/16" round as the raw size before drawing the long taper. The larger size works great if a leaf is forged at the end. Unless you break it off while you're listening to an old Uriah Heep album.  Trying to adjust this sundial so it will be as accurate as possible anywhere it ends up. Two levels, three bubbles and a digital protractor. Crazy math. After months of waiting for something magical to happen in my brain, I finally gave up on that useless organ and went with something that appeals more to my heart. Started work on a simple support bracket that should result in an interesting bit of complexity that will provide a somewhat more techical look to the work. Couldn't figure out how to mount it and still in a quandary about that. Really happy with the general design and particularly like the abstract numbering system. Hadn't seen anything like that before. I had given away most of my herb choppers and needed to replenish the inventory. Tried a new vegetable oil patina. Reasonably happy with the results. |
