Finished the elements for the stand. Had ordered a post from the local sawmill a few months ago. Too early to tack everything together - still need to work out the number system for the dial, the hardest thing for me to do. A simple gnomonless equatorial sundial. Made one like it in the past and gave it a toss; I didn't like it. Having another go at one. Finished the first of what will be a trio of smaller garden armillary sundials. This is about 8" in diameter and about 40" tall.  Forging a sundial and my favorite tape measure got stuck open. Spent 20-30 minutes trying to convince it to retract with no luck. Tossed it on the floor in disgust and, with a whirring fanfare and associated dance, it retracted. Guess we know who is in control.
