Here are the results of the thinner materials for the roses. I thought they would be a bit more life like and easier to work. They look great, but getting the input from my wife resulted in a response that began 'Well, speaking as a blacksmith's wife ...' which made me feel happy and apprehensive at the same time. Bottom line is that, while she like the results, she preferred the heavier look and feel of the thicker material. The real change here was an experiment with the stand. The roses counter-balance the two support points on the front and provide an interesting, perhaps modern feel for the presentation.
Started work on some roses. Trying some thinner material and slightly different petal shape. They (top two) look o.k. but I'll probably be going back to the original, thicker, material (bottom rose).
