Life has finally let me get some time in the forge. Finished up the first of the Columbine bowls. I was fortunate to spend some time with Robb Gunter and he was kind enough to provide some feedback on techniques and tooling for the chasing. Wasn't much left to do- just some cleaning up, the application of an acid based patina, and then a paste wax finish. The colors are just the light reflecting some of the magic in the metal.#creede #creedecolorado #blacksmith #forging #bowlingforcolumbine Finished up a gigundo mungo Dutch Oven stand. The repairs to my eyes seem to have finally healed so it was great to get back in the shop. It had been awhile since I’ve been able to forge so this felt pretty good. The pot is about 26"x8.5"x10.5" deep. Nothing real fancy, but it could have been done more simply and then looked pretty cheesy. Also happy/ amazed that it ended up level with no adjustments. |
